Brake adjustments on 28

I'm hoping to have some free time this weekend to adjust and tighten the brakes on the Hudson.  I have the original owners manual's instructions and a supplement guide with a little more detail, and both seem pretty straight forward as to how to do this.  But from your experience, is there anything important I need to know that's not mentioned in the manual before I get into the work?  Thanks,
