Hello everyone, my work on the 29 Hudson 4 door is creeping along but it now has created a lot questions for me and I am looking for your help and guidance.

I have attached two photos for references:

1st - A photo showing the silly metal flashing roof someone installed many years ago with a million nails that allow water to leak in and rot all the wood.

2nd - photo showing the metal removed and the top wood
which I have removed to make new ones and has opened up the following questions:

    Questions:

1st - My six bows vary in thickness - Is this what others had or may these not be original bows?
Bow 1 near lays flat and was toe nailed to the front header along its front edge was approx. 1 inch thick
Bow 2 was approx. 1 inch thick
Bow 3 was approx. 1.75 inch thick
Bow 4 was approx. 1 inch thick
Bow 5 was approx. 1.75 inch thick
Bow 6 was approx. 1 inch thick

I am planning to get some ash to reproduce the top wood and I am reaching out to all to see if these seem  correct?

2nd - The side rails are two pieces laminated together in the middle to follow the bow outwards of the body - Do you see any issue if I made then as a one piece side bow by starting with a wider board to allow for the outside bow of the body?

3rd - The last six to eight inches of each side rails has a wedge of wood under them to keep the side rails level as the metal body dips down in the back - I have salvaged these but will reproduce them also. - Is this correct on others cars?

4th - My car had no headliner in it - But I can see that it was tacked along both side rails and the front and back headers - But I do not see any tacks or staple on the cross bows - How is the headliner kept taught in the center of the car if from what can see it was not attached to the bows nor could see/find any evidence of bow rods?

I welcome all comments and greatly appreciate any photos of before, during installation and after showing the headliner.

Thank you for your help, comments and guidance.

    Dave
