Disassembling the Bonnet Hold Downs

Afternoon all,

I'm doing alot of the "little" things now.  I was wondering if anyone has removed the brass head (with the round finger pull) from the body to allow spring replacement?  Before I apply force/heat to free up the head to unscrew it, I wanted to be sure the head is screwed down.
