28 Rings
If I pull the block off the bottom aluminum casing, there are only 9 nuts on the water pump side, and 7 nuts on the horn side. The cam shaft stays in the aluminum bottom, and the timing chain stays intact. This would expose the pistons and I could clean them up and change the rings.
But, is it possible to get the block back on this way? meaning without taking the connecting rod caps off from below? The cap nuts are staked on with hard chisel cuts, and I don't want to grind the studs. I'd like to avoid that if at all possible.
Advice, anyone?
Where do I go to get replacement ring sets? Are valves available?
