28 Instrument Panel
Just wondering what other Hudson owners do for a speedometer / odometer on a driveable car? The instrument frame of the Stewart Warner speedometer is pot metal. I took mine apart. Lots of gears and exceptional quality machining in overall good shape. However, the main pivot for the spinning magnet is so tight in the frame that the shaft will not spin freely. Pot metal expansion and not easily repairable since it is rivet staked together, but I'll still try.
I need a viable substitute. And need the cable to the transmission. That was thrown away long ago, and the opening seems to also be corroded. What does this mean for the transmission?
Assuming that everyone has had a similar experience, what am I up against?
