Hudson Goes To War

In 1940 Britain was in a desperate situation. After the evacuation of the British Army at Dunkirk, most of its equipment was left behind in France and the country was facing a German invasion with very little to defend itself.

Ingenuity had to come into play to make up for a lack of military vehicles and many large cars, particularly American cars, suffered the fate of being converted into stopgap ambulances, fire trucks and even armoured cars - as did this '34 Hudson that became an armoured car.

This probably accounts for so few prewar RHD American cars surviving here.

Sorted , I posted these a while back as well.

I have found out where the photo was taken. It is of the Daimler Works which was at Radford in Coventry.

Now of course the question is why was a Hudson in there ; a workmans' car , someone visiting , Daimler looking at how Hudson made cars
