i have a gas tank out of a 1948 coupe. i believe the tanks are all the same 48-53 but the difference is the angle of the filler neck. are coupes and convertibles the same 48-53 ? while the sedans are a different angle neck.

ALL  stepdown fuel tanks are the same except for the 1954 models. The actual tank is the same as the 48-53 but the filler neck is different and will not allow it to work in an earlier car and vise versa. No difference in coupe or sedan.  One notable difference is the 7X fuel tank which was a 25 gallon tank not the standard 20 gallon tank used on factory produced cars.
