Can someone please help me identify the difference between a 308 engine manufactured in 1952 and 1955? I have a 55 308 engine that was purchased from J C Whitney., it was painted blue. My cast numbers are 5325000, CWC 2. these are in 3 rows. Any extra info will be grateful,
Thanks Wookie

The 5325000 is the casting number for 55-56 engines.0

What I need to know, about the difference in the engines is in the material used to manufacture the engines. I have been told there is a difference in the material used in the construction of the 53 308 and the 55 308.

Possibly aprocyphal, but the Kenosha 308's were ostensibly not as hard as the Detroit ones. However, the 1953-54 Mechanical Procedures supplement book says that chrome rings are to be used in 308 and 202 motors, which previously was no-no, as these would not bed in with chrome-nickel blocks. Does anyone have specific data?0
