'53 Hornet tire size
I have a '53 Hornet (4dr) with the 308 motor. Is there a way to determine the original tire size? The manual states that the standard was a 7.10 and the optional was a 7.60. Is there a difference in the tire circumference between the two tire sizes? Was the 7.60 for the optional 5.5 inch wheel width? Thanks!

7.10 x 15 tire, 27.8" OD. Source: automotive-catalog.com. They give all of the alternative sizes also.

You can still put 7.60-15 on the narrow rims. It’s also the same as an P225/75R-15 if you want a radial.0

By the way, Coker Tire has recently come out with a new tire that's a radial, but pretty much has the dimensions of an original bias ply.0
