oil pan width

I have a question. I know the 1951 and later 6 cyl had slightly wider blocks and needed head gaskets and heads in proper width. I wonder if the bottom  end -  oil pan and gasket were also wider. Or would the earlier 1948-50 pan fit ? Thank you.
