Brake light dilemma

My 54 Hornet's brake lights will only come on when hard pedal pressure is applied, just before a complete stop.  On my Jet the lights come on as soon as the pedal is pressed. Is it time for a new brake light switch?  Or is something else going on?  Thanks

Time for a new switch. If you are using Dot 5 fluid, the switch you get at a regular auto parts store will only be good for a short period of time. If using Dot 3 or 4, a Standard, SLS-27  is what you want. Napa, or any other parts house can get you one if you give them that number. If you are using Dot 5, get your Dot 5 compatible switch from Paul Schuster.
