Essex was originally set up as a separate company by Hudson. The corporate officers were all Hudson corporate officers.

No Fiat did not buy Chrysler, the US Govt gave Chrysler to Fiat.

Well you could say that I guess, they (Fiat) paid about 3 Billion I think was. Not much for an auto company these days
