Thought I would point out these two DIAMONDS in the RUFF.

Might be that combing the coupe body with the 2 door compontents would bring a 35 coupe back to life? Just a thought... haveing had a 34 coupe in the past. Those cars are classy.

Coupe: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1935-Hudson-Terraplane-restoration-Hot-Rod-Vintage_W0QQitemZ190056358705QQihZ009QQcategoryZ6783QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Sedan.. albeit a T... The Hudson and T should be interchangable?

Time and money I would bring both back!

I love the stepdowns but the 32-36 Hudsons are pretty darn nice looking too!
  • I might try the Coupe on a rake, fenderless, and chopped. A little different than the Fords and probably a looker!
  • geez Jsrail, maybe you guys are rubbing off on me... I saw that coupe body and thought street rod right away... and the parts off of the sedan would help it along the way...

I have a thing for the '32-37 Hudsons and Terraplanes. Perhaps the finest combination of beauty and speed in thier time. Very much like the stepdown in its own time.

    Beautiful cars.

I too looked at the e-bay ads and instantly thought, "That is what I need for my 308 stroker project - BADLY!".

    yeah, defintitely...

a twin h 308 would be the coolest thing in this done as a tasteful rod....
  • Only thing cooler would be a triple weber outfit.

    Yep.

I have the triple webers, but no cool coupe that would let it out into the sunshine like a '34/'35.

  • Hey... why does that picture keep coming up of the mustang???

You are seeing a Mustang - I hate it when that happens.

    Dangit.

Okay, a new Classicar photo account has been activated. My other one was completely erased.

You should be able to see the Webers now.

Naw! In a couple weeks there won't be anymore 308's. How many welded and sleeved blocks can you hardcore hot rod? Go with a double-blown Hemi. No hood and the biggest meats you can get in the rear! lol

Where are all the 308's going?

I still will not have as much money in this rig as a hemi crate engine would cost.

Twice the fun, about the same torque.

    Whole lot more unique.

    That's what I like.

That is what I am going to do with my '32 Essex. I have a '56 engine that is out 15/16 with a Clifford head, headers and a track cam. I am not sure what cam I want to use- I have one NOS 7X cam, all of the old Clifford cams from his old book, and a custom grind from an old dirt track racer. I thought about using my 4 BBL. intake, but I like the looks of the twin H too much! I have the car, the engine and the hydramatic, but no time. I will start on this one after I am finished with my '51 sedan. By the way- the last time the Essex was on the road was 1952-1953. That is what the inspection sticker says- and no, it's not a reproduction sticker!

Although I like those fox bodied mustangs, the webers are way cooler. That might be a better option for the coupe.... almost like an old drag car, with a 308!

That is the plan, now all I need is a suitable car

    '32-'37 will do.

I'm not going to butcher a survivor, but looking for a good coupe body/frame that is a candidate for the 1/4 or 1/8 mile.

    LOL

  • My '37 took me way too long to get finished, but I'd sure build a nice coupe rod from those two cars! Either a 308 Hudson or a 440+6 Mopar!

My point Mark, was only it seems everyone is saying how hard it is to come by a good 308 block or heads anymore, or Twin H set-ups, etc. And how many guys are buying Clifford heads or 308 blocks only to find them cracked, some not even decent enough to fix. I think its cool folks want to use them, but how many decent ones are really left out there. I was talking about hardcore thrashing a motor, I'd be afraid to beat up on a 308 too often wondering what I would do if it came apart and I had to find more parts.

  • a 308/twin h in an early essex coupe would be nuts in my opinion. light and torquey on cross plies would make for some fun! floor shifted trans channelled a bit chopped a bit more sectioned grille shell to suit the channel hood top but no sides if it all fits in under there
