Hello, I am a new member of the Hudson Club and new to the forum. I have acquired a 1922 Hudson chassis and front sheet metal with cowl. I have made a deal to buy a 47 Hudson straight 8 eng/ 3 spd. trans. I believe the 47 transmission will be a column shift. Can I replace the 47 transmission with a earlier 3 sp. floor shift? If so ,what years will work? I will also be looking to buy a 3 spd floorshift trans and my 47 trans will be up for sale. thanks in advance for any help and direction you can share with me. Don

If possible, go for a '38 or '39 transmission with the fine spline shafts, and if possible find a '40 overdrive. Otherwise it would not be impossible to conjure up a floor shift to adapt to the '47 transmission. This way you could use the more easily available R10 overdrive. However being somewhat of a purist, I could suggest that you use an original Super Six set-up.0
