I was going to order new wiring for my 1950 commodore, Mine is a 6 cylinder, and they only have wiring for a 8 cylinder. They told me it is different. I told them that 2 cylinders should not make a difference.

"Clear thinking" is a lost art now. Nobody can think outside the square. Of course they're right you know - The label on the pack said 8 cylinder so you can't use it for a 6. Silly you for using common sense0

Who are you trying to order wire from? Although you might be able to make it work the wiring for an H6 and H8 is different, especially the lengths, so the person that told you that is correct!0

What 50C8DAN said. The distributors are on the opposite side of the engine between the 262ci 6-cyl and 254ci 8-cyl. The body harness should be the same though.0
