It all depends on the year of the ad.
If the ad is 1938 or 39, the answer is yes, 1934/35 cars were still a good investment in the USA - at least judging by contemporary British secondhand car ads that uniformly show that cars had lost 2/3 - 3/4 of their new price by the time they were 4 or 5 years old!
My Dad's first car, a 1927 Singer bought in 1938, cost him £2, the equivalent of $8 at that time.0
