Overdrive

Hi guys,
I am thinking about fitting an overdrive unit to my '26 Essex to get a little more speed and also lower engine rpms while cruising. Has anyone done this to their car?
Cheers, Tristan.

I've seen it on other marques, but not a Hudson product. They hang a Gearvendors unit (about $2500) under the car between the transmission and rear end, then use the original (shortened) drivestaft between the trans and the OD unit, and make up a new one for between the OD and the rear end.0

I achieved both lowering engine revs & a little more cruising speed by fitting an Essex 4 diff to my 28 Essex Coupe. It drops the revs by about 12% at a given road speed but 2nd gear (noisy) does get more use. The Essex 4 diff fits in the 28 housing but you do need to change the spider
