1954 Dash Liights

My '54 Hornet was converted to 12V somewhere along the line and I am assuming the instrument light bulbs changed as well.  However, at night it is pretty tough to read much of anything by the dashboard lights (Meatloaf RIP).  Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had some numbers of bright 12V bulbs.  I am not sure that LEDs will work very well since they tend to be very directional.

Check your rheostat switch under the dash that dims the dash lights.

I already have cleaned the rheostat and it is still the same dim panel.  I think the PO just put in fairly dim lights.  I am going to try some of the lights Grim mentioned and see if it improves.  I just wish the '54 instrument panel was as easy to work on as the prior years.  My '50 is a slam dunk!
