1946 212 I6 cork clutch condition
Hi Everyone,
I have a 1946 super six with an I6 212. The clutch disc was stuck to the flywheel since it sat for 30 years and the clutch fluid dried up. I was able to remove it carefully with a razor. It doesn't look "that" bad, but I don't know what is good enough.
As you can see a couple of them are not as good as the rest of the corks.
Should I get it rebuilt or will it smooth itself out?
Thanks!
dan

Check the overall thickness, it should be within .210" down to .180" total. if it si within spec,. I would give it a good scrub with acetone, and re-install with either genuine Hudsonite, or Dexron 3 A.T.F.0

The Mechanical Procedure manual says to soak it in Hudsonite to clean the blackened corks. But if you only want to do it once, just have it recorked, and resurface your driving plate while you’re at it. Replace your throw-out bearing tooDoug Wildrick can do the work for you on an exchange basis0

Thanks for the advice, it only measured 0.120, so that seems like a no go all around!0

It would work, but best to refurbish it now.0
