Generator/Alternator Shaft for 29 Essie

I'm still new to the Essex/Super Six world. I'm looking for the bar that connects the generator/alternator. It's about 4in long and 1in diameter. Does it need to be original? It looks basic enough to replace with a homemade, but I don't want to risk damaging something if it's not right.

You mean the flexible coupling? It can be made from industrial grade rubber hose. clamped each end by two rounded steel half clamps.0

A heavy duty, multi-layer rubber hose like tube.
The he bolts should only have threads on the very ends. If fully thredded bolts are used they will cut and wear out the shaft holes. Check yours for ovalized holes.0 -
Much appreciated guys!
Another question, different topic. I can't seem to find a part number for finding a new distributor for the SuperSix. Any ideas?0 -
