Ideas to Ease Pedal Rubber Install

Older pedal rubbers & they are a tight fit at best.  Hopefully someone has found successful ways to get them on?

Im thinking some heat may be needed to further soften them up.  Already tried some sil-glyde which helps some.

Couldn’t get them on without tearing, just too old & had shrunken.  I put them & the pedal in very hot water & while in the hot water assembled them.  One only got a small tear but the other is torn a lot.  I’ll probably put some Right Stuff (black RTV) on the tears to hopefully get them to not completely fall apart.  Next time I’ll trim some circumference off around the pedals just to be sure they fit & don’t tear.  Onward…

You may try silicone spray to ease slipping them on.
  • You can buy new ones, you know.

Soak them in Simple Green or Lestoil to soften the rubber.
