Starting issue

I've been trying to find the starting issue with my 54 Super Wasp recently and haven't found it so far.

The car works on 6V positive ground, and every time I try to start the engine, it seems to die at the moment that the engine is starting to go on its own, as if the Bendix is retracting way too early.

The battery itself is good, got plenty of fuel and sparks and the starter has been rebuilded at least 2 years ago. The carbs adjustments has not been touched and were working great last time I drove it. I've ordered a new starter solenoid for testing, but I don't really know if it's the issue.

Any clue of what could be the problem?

I managed to find the reason why : the old starter drive was tired and had to find a new one.

I've found one that fitted on the starter only to find out a couple of weeks later that it was quite the chinese knockoff as it broke in pieces while driving back home. Luckily for me , the ring gear was still fine. So I go back to part search but this time I used the original part number of the Bendix ( EBA-33 ) and this time, it solved my starting issue. It starts in an instant and without any problem.

So the lesson in this adventure for me is to find THE right part by using the original part number. I think Massey-Ferguson does use the same starter drive design.

I found it on Ebay from a company called BL Electrical, but they seem to not have alot of them in stock. Make sure to check if they still have it on their inventory.
