What is a good lube for the steering box on my 49 Hudson?
Thanks in advance.

I highly recomend John Deere Corn Head grease. It's made for slow moving worm gears such as those found on corn harvesters. It should be at your local John Deere dealer0

If that “grease” is actually the consistency of a very thick oil you are good to go.

STEERING BOX GREASE Semi-FluidThis works great and is easy to pump into the gear box.

My 29 and 47 are happy with the John Deere Corn Head grease.0

Penrite Oil do a really gloopy steering box oil.
My tip = Use a disposable enema syringe to put put the oil in the steering box because it avoids spillage.
You can also use these syringes for filling the clutch.
Hat tip to my daughter-in-law who is a nurse !0 -
Thanks for the info everyone, much appreciated.0

I've always used the steering gear box lube from the Studebaker Drivers Club:

I noticed that the 1950 Hudson Owner Manual and 1952 Mechanical Procedures manual recommends using S.A.E. 90 E.P. gear oil in the steering gear housing (I use a synthetic 90 gear oil). Is steering box grease superior to 90 E.P. gear oil as a lubricant?0
