Oil pan pick tube

Today I worked on my oil pan. The bottom end was caved in real bad from setting for so many years. I pulled the pickup screen off the tube and found a blocking piece or o-ring or whatever it was on the end of the pickup screen. Is this actually a full seal or does this pick up screen seal actually have one in the overall kit?
Is there a pickup screen out there that is in better shape than what I have or is this normal for what one would look like?
Thanks for the information in advance,
Wookie

The seal is a part of the pickup. It is an O RING that can be replaced. The pickup should move freely and the screen in the pickup should not have holes in it. In the past, I have removed failed screens from beat-up pickups. Removed the dents and straightened the pickup then soldered in an appropriate screen into the pickup body.0

Thanks for the advice. Now I know that I need to put a new ring seal on the piece I found. I had to straightened out the bottom of my pan today. It was bent badly0
