1946 super six fuel line between pump and carb

What diameter line do you guys run between the pump and the carb on a 1946 6 cyl 212? The inlet on the 501S and the outlet from the pump are both a 3/8-24 fitting, which means 3/16" hard line, seems kinda small, usually use 5/16".
