Gas Quality from years gone by

I often read that one of the reasons for low CR in early vehicles was due to poor (compared to today's fuels) fuel.  Here is a photo that may reinforce that idea!

    Those were the days!  When I first bought my Essex petrol was 33c.per gallon (1956).  Now its nearly $13.   However, it's probably cheaper in real terms than back then taking inflation into account, and the days of  ignition knock have well gone.  At least we can still buy real petrol here without biofuel addition.
