Looking at a 54 Super Wasp…

… it’s a great old survivor. My question: The cylinder head has 232 stamped on it. Shouldn’t the Super Wasp have a 262? Is it possible late in the 54 run that they put a 232 in a Super? Everything is so original with this car — owners say it hasn’t been driven since the 70s — that an engine swap doesn’t seem likely. Block number starts with 53.

thanks so much.

Might have put a 232 head on the 262 to bump up the performance since it would up the compression ratio.

  • Check the engine number against the VIN plate. If it’s the same then you have a 262
