Head Bolts for 308?
I recently purchased a 1951 Hudson Hornet that had been parked in a field most of its life. The head was taken off of it at some point in the past. I've sourced a head, but I can't seem to find any head bolts online or any specifications of what the head bolts should be. Does anyone have any specifications/ images for the head bolts? Would any other head bolts work on it? Thanks for your time!

Use a grade 8 bolt the right size and length, you can measure that, probably a 1/2 inch bolt, not sure what length. You can get them at a good hardware store, or bolt supplier. McMaster , or Fastenal.

My head bolt shafts are 3" long and uniform. Don't forget the thread sealant on the ones that go into coolant passages! I believe 51 308s were 7/16 diameter, but you should measure it since upgrading to 1/2 is common.

Big Paul had sets of these available. Grade 8 with hardened washers.
