52-53 tail light panels

Were the inserts on the tail light garnish panels between the 52-53 tailights painted red on Hornets? I see a many images online were thdy are painted.

These panels were not painted at all by the factory. They were just recessed panels. What happened to them once they were in their owners respective hands was up to the owners.

When you see the red in the 52 or 53 panels it is reflective tape that fits into that indentation. Good idea as the 6-volt bulbs and crazed rear lenses make for poor rear lighting at night.

The reflective tape is what caught my eye when I was going through some parts in storage that were off a 52 Hornet. Dim lights make sense.
