Undercarriage fasteners
I’m in the process of tearing down my 36 sedan. I want to reuse as many original fasteners as possible so I’m running all through evaporust, tumbler with walnut, then a quick soak in Caswell penetrating sealer. Most of the split lock washers are either breaking from rust or staying flat as a result of being compressed for 88 years. What type can I replace them with? Hot dip galvanized? Zinc? Just plain steel? I plan on spraying everything with something from Eastwood for protection after assembly and I don’t want issues with it not adhering or with galvanic corrosion.
