I am about to tear down my transmission and overdrive unit. Are there any specific things that I need to look at or check over while I am tearing down? I'm getting my rebuild parts and gaskets from wildricks.

The main failure component in the o/d is the pinion assembly. Check that the rollers that the planetary gears revolve on are not worn. If there is any black oil in the o/d, it indicates wear somewhere. This is an R10 unit if you are ordering new parts. Also check the free-0wheeling cage. The rollers should be free, and the cage should flick back freely under the torsion spring tension.
