Can I use Differential Oil 80W/90 in my Steering box for a 1931 Essex super six.
Thanks George

George, Go to a John Deere dealer and buy 'corn head grease'. It sounds weird but it's made for slow moving worm and gear movements much like a corn harvester would have. Forget the heavy weight oils. Once you open a steering box it will leak. Just replace the old nasty stuff with the green grease from Deere .Works great.

I mix up moly-grease with gear oil, until it becomes the consitency of treacle. If you use straight gear oil, it will leak out.

I use Penrite's liquid grease in my 28 Essex Coupe.
