1946 super sedan rear sway bar axle mount
I have discovered that the rear sway bar mount that is welded on the rear axle is basically broken off, so need to figure out something to fix it.
First thought is to make some kind of replacement flange and weld it on
Second thought it to make a flange and use 2 big u-bolts and attach it to the axle that way.
Any thoughts? Has anyone else had this break off? How much stress is it under normally?
Thanks!

Your sway bar has been added. From factory had a lug welded on the dif so the sway bar bolted on with rubber bushings

This is a picture of the bracket with the bar next to it. It looks pretty origjnal but it just cracked off.

When I put the Ford 9" rear in my '40, I made a bracket and welded it on.

I see your dilemma. U bolts may work as a short term fix, until you can get the bracket fixed.
