1946 super 6 first drive won't go into 3rd gear
Took my 46 super 212 3 speed manual for a test drive farther than the drive way today. It seemed good, first gear to second gear, faster, to third gear, but nope, it wouldn't go into 3rd. Wiggled the handle, in and out with the clutch trying to get it to drop in. It did once, but that was the only time. Limped it back in second gear to the garage and I took out the floor and took off the cover of the transmission. The linkage seems to move fine except it just won't go into 3rd.
Looking for random thoughts of things I can check prior to taking the transmission out and having a shop tell me the obvious that I could have handled myself.
Some interlock exchange getting stuck? syncro gear stuck? All ideas welcome.
thanks! dan

Hi Dan
Basics: did you check the Handy shift linkage alignment per the Service Manual? If you’ve done that, are the rubber mounts for the shift bar still good? Did you check that the transmission shift range cable is moving correctly? Past that, it’s going to be internal to the transmission. Has this transmission been serviced and was it working for you prior?

HiTodd,
Thanks for the leads it was indeed the shifter adjustment. The front back cable was moving off center. All gears good now!
