1929 Essex Piston Installation

I am looking for a manual on 1929 Hudson Essex super six ! I am currently installing the pistons and am having some trouble. If anyone has any information on which way the offset rods turn please let me know

    Looking from the right hand side of the motor, rods 1, 2. and 4 are offset left, and 3, 5, 6 are offset right. That is the bearing is offset from the centre line of the rod. The rods will not interchange, they will only go in one way. You can install pistons two ways. One is to assemble to the rods, and install from underneath, carefully jiggling up through the chamfer at the bottom of the cylinders, which will compress the rings. Or you can poke the rod through the bore, install the pin and clips, then the rings, and use a ring compressor and push the piston down the bore. You must be a new member, or not get the W.T.N., as I have described this several times in my Technical Topics column.
