Con Rod bolts & nuts Stepdown 6

Don't know if I need nuts- 3/8-24 and bolts 2 and 3/8 long- do i recall a Summit Auto parts recommendation for this - rather than Palnuts -old style locking - what are you using on rebuild? I have pistons with honed wrist-pins and new pistons and rods - don't know if I can use the attached nuts from the machine shop that are already attached and likely new. Shop wont remember what they used. Or should I buy self locking (?) nuts? Gert

Proper torque is the key, but the locknuts are cheap insurance.

I always use the 38-24 Palnuts,,,,,turn them down with fingers until they are snug on the nut, and tighten another 1/4 to 1/3 turn.

I too used new palnuts. My local Napa store had them in stock.
