Radiator Cap / Windshield Wiper mechanism

I recently bought a 1947 Hudson pickup truck through an auction. Unfortunately, the seller, Jensen Imports of Sioux City IA, deceived me on the real condition of the truck. Now, I am in a major restoration.
Where can I get an original radiator cap? How does the windshield wiper mechanism (wirh the chains) come apart? The 2 housings need to be re chromed.
Thanks,

I can't answer your question about how to take the wiper towers apart, sorry. If you are doing an authentic restoration, the wiper towers on trucks were painted, not plated. Many many people have them plated because the look nice that way. Your truck, your choice. Good luck on your project, and if you can, post some pictures... We love to see what other people are working on.

Hello,
It might be easier, and cheaper, to find replacement windshield wiper housings. I have seen both NOS and good used ones on E-Bay from time to time.
Regarding chrome plated versus painted ones for 1946-47 Hudson trucks, all period photographs I have seen seem to indicate chrome plated housings. Are there any photos out the of painted housings on original trucks?
Did Hudson remove the chrome plating when used on trucks, or did they paint over the plating (if that is possible)? The Hudson parts book for 1942-1947 doesn't show separate numbers for chrome plated and painted parts.
Take care,
Steve Bryson

My ‘40 truck has only a drivers side wiper and it’s chrome.

I'm pretty sure I have a spare set that have never been plated. Since they were never dipped in chemicals as part of the plating process, there are absolutely no pits in them
