Anyone have a source for hubcap sring clip rivets ?
So one of my wheels is missing a hubcap spring clip. I have a extra wheel to source the spring part but I am not sure how to attach it. I can use a bolt or maybe pop rivet but I am afraid it will throw off the balance of the wheel when I get on the new tires put on. Might not be a big deal but was wondering if anyone else had this problem and how they solved it. It's a 1948 hudson commodore.
Thanks,
John

Had one missing on my 35T 4 bolt steel wheel. I acquired a few from two different sources. None matched the original shape. Made a fixture of a piece of round welded to a piece of angle. Clamped that and the acquired clip and rebent it to fit. Several back and forth's. Turn out useable. Used a bolt, L'w & nylock. Had it checked for balance. I have the clips here someplace if you want to give it a whack I can mail you one for the post cost. Could be these may be the profile you need. Not sure if I can post more than one pic so here goes

A lot of wheels are too rusty to be used. However the clips are well worth saving. I have saved a few of these clips knowing that they do break. So check your old rusty wheels or club members with the same year car who live close to you.

I've been in the missing hub cap clip situation with 36 wheels. I used clips from step-down wheels, the clips needed to be massaged slightly to suit their new role. Held in place with a small bolt and a nylock nut. Balance issues are a non-starter for this mod.
