Header Build for 212ci (little 6, super 6)
I’m working on building a header flange & ultimately a set of headers for my 37 Hudson’s original 212ci engine. Does anyone have original drawings that might show the center on center specs of the exhaust manifold/block studs &/or block ports?
Yesterday I CNC cut a 16 gauge steel test flange based off an old one piece gasket. After test fitting on a spare engine, doing some tweaking & taking more detailed measurements, it would really help to have factory measurements if at all possible.

I do not know if this will help, but the HET patents with drawings and measurements are online for many Hudson, Essex Terraplane products. 0

Good suggestion, I always forget to look there… Thanks! 0

You will get usable measurements using a digital vernier. The stud centres will most probably be on 1/16" increments, maybe 1/32". 0

Good stuff, what are your thoughts on primary pipe diameter and length, collector and exhaust pipe diameter? 0

Terraplane8, I have been side tracked on this project. I remember correctly I was somewhere around 1&1/2” but that was based upon what size pipe I was finding at the time. One of these days I’ll get back to it… the next step is to remove the exhaust manifold to see how the test flange aligns with the port openings on my block & make any tweaks. I also need to decide on steel vs stainless, what size pipe is available vs what is right for the engine, once that’s all done I can get a flange cut. Then comes the fun of learning to Tig weld pipe! 0
