Hudson Carburetor Climatic Control

I have a 1948 Hudson Commodore. Recently, I had the two-barrel Carter carb rebuilt and noticed that the Climatic Control model # 170 64S attached is actually for a single-barrel carb.
Not being Mr. Goodwrench, I don't know if this is compatible. My vehicle has a problem with dying when I engage the clutch to downshift so I am hoping this might explain some of the problem. Any thoughts?

First off, you don't mention whether your Commodore is a 6 or 8. The Six uses the Carter WDO 647S with the Climatic Control # 170 G 64S, whereas the Eight uses the Carter WDO 648S with the Climatic Control #170 F 64S. There should be a triangular brass tag on the carburetor with 647S or 648S stamped into it on your carburetor. Which carburetor do you have?

Second question: Who rebuilt your carburetor? Did you have a mechanic install it and dial it in? By dialing in, I mean did he set the mixture screws, Climatic Control, and hot idle? Is the car currently idling very low like around 500 rpm? What about ignition tune up, ignition timing set, and checking for any vacuum leaks?
