1949 Super....cant get rear vent window out...help ?

Don't want to ruin original rear vent window rubber seal. I can't seem to get the glass out of frame. Is there an easy way to get the whole frame and glass out without ruining the seal ?

Thanks in advance...

You must remove the interior garnish moulding first. Then there are like 4-5 sheet metal screws holding the black painted vent window frame (NOT the hinged chrome frame the glass is in). Take those screw out and carefully remove the entire assembly from INSIDE the car. If the rubber lip of the seal is still pliable it should come out of the opening into the inside of the car with the assembly. The rubber seal is pressed into that black painted frame. To get the glass with it's chromed frame and pivot out, remove the nut on the pivot with it's spring, and first push the glass with its frame down onto the rubber to get the upper pivot pin out of it's little holder then you can pull the glass and its chrome frame up out of the black painted frame, being careful not to lose the egg shaped cam that limits the swing of the glass, it is splined, so take a picture of it's orientation before you pull the glass with its chrome frame out. The rubber seal is available new. I will send an email to your email address listed here regarding the seal and it's installation. I have some pictures of this glass and frame . I will emial those as this forum is hard to post pictures on. Regards, Kenneth
