Mechanical Brakes - Best Linings To Use?

Can someone tell me the brand of lining that is very efficient at stopping a 1934 Terraplane. I have excellent mechanical brakes my '35 Hudson 8 but they were on the car when I bought it.

I asked a repair shop that fixed one of my Terraplanes 5 years ago (they did a fantastic job) and recently I asked him what brand and where he got them from. His answer - he said he got it from USA but could not elaborate.
