'54 Hornet turning signal housing removal

I am trying to remove the housing for the turning signal assembly from my '54 Hornet and wanted to see if anyone had a great idea for this. It looks like it was pressed into place and needs to be bumped up to remove, but I don't want any damage. A rubber mallet may be the thing to use, but ???? See photo.

    Dan: The Chrome plated cup into which the switch mechanism mounts is swaged to the chrome plated tube that covers the steering shaft. It is NOT meant to be disassembled from the column cover. As you know from social media post responses, the tube along with the cover is removed in one piece. If you are wondering how to remove the switch assembly without taking out the column, it is plugged into a multi contact block at the left side of the column under the dash. By unplugging the wires there, loosening the mounts for the column tube which in turn will allow you to pull off the wire cover on the bottom of the column cover, the wiring with the switch assembly can be removed intact. Good luck with your project.

    Thanks Glowplug! I have a problem with my shifter coming loose, and I wanted to remove the collar and check to see if there is a groove worn in the shifter rod.
