Let's start another feud on the board....

IF you're worried about big brother or whoever you happen to think it is coming to get your old cars consider joining this group: COVA/CVAG
The Council of Vehicle Associations / Classic Vehicle Advocate Group, was formed by enthusiasts on July 4, 1998 and is devoted to protecting the interests of individuals, companies, and organizations involved in the well maintained antique, classic, modified, modern day, and collectible vehicle industry.
Whether the collectible or modern vehicle of your choice is an automobile, a motorcycle, a light truck, a military vehicle, or a locomotive; whether it runs on four wheels, two wheels, fat tires, or 16 big iron wheels, be it built in the early 1900's or the 1970's, 1980's, 1990's or sometime in between, and has been restored, modified, or will be in the future; we are all facing the demise of our hobby (or in some cases livelihood) unless we can gain the ear of those who write legislation.
We will only gain their ear with a coordinated national effort, supported by all of those who stand to lose the use of their collectible or every day driving vehicles.
Please consider the compelling reasons for a national effort that crosses the lines of make, model, year, and join our national nonprofit organization COVA/CVAG. Invest in the future of our freedoms and our vehicle rights.

nhp1127 wrote:Hudson Kid, you are 100% wrong. Feminists have labeled this stuff as sexist and they pushed out the vast majority of these activities. You have never heard of Gloria Allred? Here is a fact and it was and is still rampant: I attended the University of Southern California and graduated in 1980. One of the sororities was going to have a pirate "slave auction" where they were going to auction off some of us fraternity guys to the girls as a fund raiser. A girl could bid on a guy who would take you to dinner or make him wash your dishes, etc. The femi-nazi's forced the University to shut it down. This not a one time exception. This PC philosophy still continues on everywhere. To deny it would simply be nieve.
The good news is that people are finally getting sick of these radicals.
As a final note, if anything, it is the big city PC lobbies that force their views and laws on the small towns. Niels
I can understand this point, but this is more accurately labeled a product of the feminist movement, not as much as being "PC" the problem I got is that Patrick wanted to credit the entire left (or everyone that doesn't think like he does) as being responsible for what he doesn't like in the world.0 -

among others...Lots of reading there, kid, hope you can handle the big words.
I'll tell you what Patrick, why don't you read these articles, copy and paste the parts to support your argument, rather than posting three sites you can find by doing a generic search on Political correctness. These three articles, of course support your argument, because they were written by some of the most consevative writter.
Besides Patrick, it just shows your lack of ability to disseminate what you read, and offer it as points to support your argument. Anyone can offer a list of links about conservative articles that talk about political correctness, but less as many can read them, and find key points to support their point of view.
As far as having sources sited, I believe my reply, in fact sited sources to the originator of the suppotive materials I indeed quoted. If not I will be more than glad to offer those sources to you, unfortunately, I doubt you will be able to do much else with the information.
One more thing....Oh yeah, love the pop up for Vonage! I got a lot of trust in that article, since the site has a good ole pop up! :cool:0 -
66patrick66 wrote:Hudsonkid said that "political correctness" was an invented term for something that doesn't exist, created solely to discredit - the thing that doesn't exist.
If it doesn't exist, how can it be discredited?
Go get some more kool-aid, kid.
Patrick, SHOW everyone where I said this?
I want you to quote my text.
I would love to see it.
Just shows me that you were incapable of reading what I offered to the discussion.
(oh yeah to help you out of this one... you didn't understand what you read! I was right, you're not smart enough to read what I wrote, the words were too big for you!!!!)
BTW, here's the quote I'm SURE you referred to...
"Political correctness is one of the brilliant tools that the American Right developed in the mid-1980s as part of its demolition of American liberalism....What the sharpest thinkers on the American Right saw quickly was that by declaring war on the cultural manifestations of liberalism - by levelling the charge of political correctness against its exponents - they could discredit the whole political project."
What this say, to correctly paraphrase, is that the term "PC" was invented by Patrick's beloved republicans in the 80's, as a buzzword, to make any argument, or idea of the democrats, seem unimportant, or label it as "another one of those project" just to take any kind of focus off the project, idea, or point of view, whether they were good or bad, so they could push thru their ideas, projects, points of view. Pretty poor way of trying to get things done.
Pretty much the same thing that the republicans did with that little 5 colored terrorist threat meter, for some time. Keep em scared, move it to orange for a few days, then back to yellow. How come we don't see that broadcast on the news everyday, like we did two years ago? hmmm...0 -
66patrick66 wrote:Weather and politics are forever on mixed together...heard about the "global warming" nonsense? Climate has been changing for what, five billion years now? And it is the Lefty envirowhackos, not the Right environmental stewards, that wants to put us back to the Stone Age so we don't "kill the planet" or some such crap.
Weather and politics are married these days.
And it's a beautiful 60-degree December day - guess I should feel guilty because it's "unseasonal"!!!:D
I like....
"the Right environmental stewards"
wow... how come the right stewards allow for the selling of pollution "credits" to big industries, with programs that allow big business to crush old cars, so they can pollute more?
doesn't sound like the stewards are helping fix any problems, just coming up with diversions of the real problem.
Patrick, you have yet to offer one concrete argument here, you are only spewing out mis informed ideas that you can't see that in fact are really based out of the conservative camp you like to call home.
I know you might find this unbelievable, but I am in fact a registered republican, and would call myself rather conservative, however, I keep seeing the problems for what they are, not blindly looking at th other side as the people to blame....0 -
royer wrote:I have no idea what you're talking about. Nevada is a big time Republican state. We have 24 hour gaming, 24 hour drinking (no last call in the bars), and in the rural counties, 24 hour ***** Houses. (I forgot about the language checker, let's rephrase that "Chicken Ranches") It's the transplanted California libs that keep trying to take that stuff away, not the Republicans that are making the big bucks off the 24 hr gambling, booze, and ho's.
Forget car washes...in Nevada, scantily clad women have more important things to do!
I don't know... sounds to me that the republicans were trying to shut everything down they called indecent, especially on the web....
remember something called 18 U.S.C. 2257?
hmm.. who came up with that censorship?
(cough, cough, conservative republicans, right a couple years ago)0 -
Hi fellows,
We getting rather political here - this is a "car" club, not a forum for expounding left, right, centrist or over the wall!!!
How about we quit tossing the rocks and get back to what this forum is all about - Hudsons!!!!
Thanks everybody.

absolutely, even I agree with that.
This was supposed to be a good natured thread about the weather. To poke fun at our fair weathered friends on the sunny west coast, while some of us perhaps not so lucky, depending upon how you look at it, are starting to suffer thru some colder weather.
Politics, or not, we should very much keep it out of the discussion. It would be the same with religion. We are all here, because we like hudsons, and not everyone of us are going to see eye to eye on every topic, but at least we got some common ground.0 -
Hey! Wo! Wo! Wo!
Guys, let's loosen up here and get back on the thread (whatever THAT was... But then, what can one expect when the thread is entitled "Let's Start Another Feud....", LOL!)
Let's behave ourselves and act like civilized folks, or Daddy's coming upstairs...

A little thin-skinned there, kid? Must mean my points are correct and logical, plus they are backed by FACT. What, no arguments with the others on this little excursion with the same viewpoints as me? Must be personal, then! That's OK, I understand you and your side of things all too well.
Oh, and I rest my case. You wanted feud, how's dat???
Been nice chatting. Call again after you move out of the basement!:D0 -

Hey Moderator...
what's the deal? didn't someone get it? (see previous post...)
how about doing something?
Perhaps you want me to continue to reply?
Or is it okay for Patrick to continue perpetuating this thread further off topic?0 -

Actually patrick, if you look back thru the pages, I have replied to several others with differing opinions. I'm sorry to hear you taking this personally. I guess those others posted in a way that they were supportive of their viewpoints.
It actually has not been nice chatting, as usual with you.
As for living in the basement, I have my own home, thank you, I guess that's the kind of comment I should expect from someone of your character.
If you have further comment, I prefer you just PM me, let's keep our obvious issue off the board, there both of us can be as immature as either of us like. I imagine that I will not hear from you. I bet you're one of those internet giants, real life mouses.... :eek:0
