Beautiful, expensive and a good plug for the restoration shop. Is the restorer the seller perhaps?0

Hard to find a red 54 steering wheel0
-
How much should it cost to have a wheel redone ?0
-
A good restorer will charge $250 and up for a full restore and maybe able to get work done for less if its just repairing a crack.0

I have heard of a place in California, that makes a mold of your present wheel with the cracks repaired and pours a new wheel of whatever color you want. The product would be an exact copy of your original wheel, but repaired and solid.
$200-$250
I don't know the name of the place, a friend of mine had it done to an Edsel steering wheel and was excited by the result.

HI GUYS well a little more input the wheels that have been remade for the 48/49 comadore are $650 or $700 each and thats just the wheel not the center plastic (I DO HAVE A CRACK FREE steering wheeL THAT IS MARRON FOR 51 TO 53 FOR $300 IF SOME ONES LOOKING) I think $250 $300 is a steal for this wheel BUT THE BUY IT NOW IS $600 THAT SOUNDS MORE LIKE WHAT IT'S GONNA COST

I don't know 52 steering wheels - looking at this one it doesn't look right to me. Its the bend in the 3 spokes - aren't the spokes supposed to be straight?
This one looks like it was impacted by a big soft belly during an accident!0 -
That's because it's for a 54. The design was in anticipation of a big soft belly contacting it. Less embarassment for portly, accident prone Hudson owners.0
-
I don't know about the portly Hudson owners but I do know that the bends are where they should be...0

It would be a long ship and return ship--except for Geoff/etc. -but check out this place in Australia--they will also reduce the diameter, while keeping the general look.

Check out this picture from the same website:
I tried to post the photo, but did something wrong.

That's a hot looking car...but the steering wheel is on the wrong side! :rolleyes:0

I think that has something to do with the Coriolis effect.

Try this one- I'm still monkeying around with picture insertion on this forum.
Ah success--photoshop flip--apologies to the downunder folks.

Darn, now the gear shift is on the wrong side. Either that or this car has one honkin' directional stalk. Looks like the parking brake pedal is now on the right...or is that a dainty accelerator pedal?0
-
Sorry guys, BUT, the wheel is on the RIGHT side. Which is your right leg.???

So what's the deal with this steering wheel then? Notice the horn ring looks the same - but the spokes aren't "curved" like the original post picture....
I still think the first picture looks like the wheel is bent from an accident!0 -

I second that.0 -
Dan, The wheel in the second picture ( Reversed ) was restored and the diameter was reduced I think to 16 inches, according to the web site I looked at. It is NOT the same wheel. It was from the pearlcraft site
