Calendar

I went to the bank here and got a couple new calendars. The theme is old cars as always for Whittaker bank. I asked the teller which car she liked best and she pointed out the 47 Hudson pick-up. I was surprised to see it but there it is.

  • Ich verstehe dies nicht: Das OberGruppenFuher.
  • What part do you not understand?

I'm just saying that I was surprised that Whittaker bank featured a Hudson P/U on the 2007 calendar and that the girl at the bank pointed it out to me as her favorite.

  • I do nto understand the "Das OberGruppenFuhrer" tag. It translates as nothing as one word. But If I break it down it reads "The Waiter Groups Leader/President".

I know that is a more literal translation. I am having trouble getting the user friendly version. German is not my first language (more like 4th).

Nice, I would like to find a copy of that calendar. Any publishing names on the back?

    Thanks, Lance

 Good point! I omitted the umlaut because I couldn't figure out how to do it on the computer. I like the head waiter idea though.

    Have a nice day

I understand getting accents in....Head Waiter. That sounds good.
  • I'm glad to see you are so interested in my moniker. It actually translates to "upper group leader" or more accurately Wing Commander in the German Luftwaffe.

Maybe my german is rusty, but wouldn't it be "Der" intead of "Das"?

    and, while thinking about it,

wouldn't it be "Ich verstehen Sie nicht" ?

which I think translates into "I understand you not" or at least I thought it did.

    unless "dies" is "this"...

    gosh, I can't remember.

didn't pay that much attention in German class 17 years ago.

Ich werde draußen auf dem Porsche arbeiten.
  • Ich habe einen Porsche auch! Heute arbeite ich an meinem Jensen Healey im Geschäft.

    Guten Tag!

  • Welches Jahr und Modell? Meins hat den Motor im falschen Ende, 944.
  • It is a 68 912. I have rebuilt the engine and transmission which reside on a bench in my basement. The body is rusty but not beyond repair. After realizing what these cars are worth, it's just not economically repairable. I sold the other 2 I had and am wondering what to do with this one. I've not lost interest in Porsches, I've lost interest in paying Porsche prices for parts. So I'm keeping my eyes open for a late model galvanized tub or a VW KG or even a kit car to put the drivetain into.

    Have a good day

  • I got a fair amount of the german dialog above, I think....
