I read the WTN from cover to cover, as well as my Kaiser publications. The difference between you and I is that I go to the garage to get away from the little women, the house, the yard, the job, world events....0 -
I also read the WTN cover to cover, as well as the occasional Hot Rod and mountain bike mags. I have 3 daughters under the age of 10, a house , a yard and a demanding job that inlcudes a decent amount of travel. It's hard to find time for my one Hudson, and lately I all but despise working on the daily drivers.
I want a second Hudson for a daily driver, we'll see how that works out. When everything seems crazy, I find that wrenching on the Hudson makes everything seem a bit better.
I think that most of us can't keep us with so many cars, thats why you see so many "projects" hanging around. I guess tinkering on old cars is a kind of therapy.

I'd echo faustmb's sentiments, there's something zen like tinkering around with an old car at least when you're not constantly interrupted. Kind of an escape from all the rushing around. I decided some time back though that as much as I might want 1 Hudson from every year I really can't do real justice to more than 2 at a time. Ultimately my goal is to have 2 fully restored Hudsons. 2 because I can drive one and fix or maintain the other while I'm waiting for parts to come though the mail. The average Hudson owner owns more than one, I've seen plenty of guys that have too many to get them all fixed or preserved.....unless you're someone really efficent like Bill Albirght or Doug Wildrick...they've fixed up a lot of Hudsons. LOL Just explain to your wife that it's not that you're not perfectly willing to do everything that needs to be done to keep everything in your household running. You just need an outlet to keep sane. Maybe it's wrong to talk about Hudsons and sanity in the same post I dunno. LOL0

I have the WTN, Smithsonian Magazine and an excellent magazine called American Road to read;
I have a computer to play with and talk to friends and relatives;
I have a 1987 Dodge D-150 pickup and a 1997 Caddy;
I have all the time in the world to do whatever I want - at least for the next 14 years (I plan to be shot, at the age of 84, by a jealous husband):
Sounds idyllic, don't it - one thing I don't have much of any more, tho. I'm also retired and don't have much money. I'm retired military - and contrary to popular belief - not all of us have $50,000 a year coming in from that and, yes, we also pay income taxes on it.
Am I complaining - hell no. Not as long as I keep waking up every morning.
That's life for you.
