Carb of 1930 Hudson
Anyone hear of Hudson using Holley carbs on their 1930 Straight 8. From alll the info I have and the fact my friend has a 1930 Hudson Great 8 with the straight 8 and it has the updraft Marvel carb on it.
Sent an email to this dealer on ebay who is selling a Holley carb that is obviously not from the 1930 Hudson and saying its for the straight 8. First he had it listed for the Hudson V8 I sent him an email saying Hudson did not have a V8 in 1930 nor did they use the Holley downdraft carb you show. He changes the ad to say straight 8 but keeps on listing as a Hudson carb. Some people...one guy is bidding on it I sure hope he doesn't think its for the 8.

This may have been adapted to fit a 1930 Hudson, but is definitely not the original.0

By the looks of the carb and the ID tag I'm pretty sure that is a Ford carb probably in the fifties or sixties 6 cylinder. Falcon Fairlane ?????
Plus it has a hot air automatic choke on it.
I am looking in a Holley carb book I just remembered I have. I believe it to be a model 1904/1908/1960 model used on early Ford cars and trucks. Later morphed into a model 1920, used on slant six MOPARS.
Spec 160 or235 CFM Throttle bore size 1-9/16 or 1-11/16 on a 1-1/2" flange.0 -
Yup, I knew it was not a Hudson carb. I have the Carter and Marvel specs all the way back to the twenties and they never show a Holley. I emailed the dude but he changed some of the info but is holding on to the fact its from a Hudson. Maybe someone added a modified manifold to the 8 and added a Holley. I kind of doubt it as he said he was parting out the drivetrain but he originally listed it as a V8. If you can't tell the difference between a V8 and a straight 8 we can't expect much from him in regards to the carb.0

It was a 1930 Hudson with a 1959 Ford 312 V8 out of a Galaxy wagon. The guy was too stupid to read "Powered by Thunderbird" on the valve covers.0

I did some research on this carb at work today. It is definatly a Ford carb between 1958 and 1962 Used on the 144, 170 and 223 CI SIX CYLINDER engines.
