may i add its a hornet sorry0
-
It's worth as much as the least you're willing to take and the most the buyer is willing to give.0
-
IMHO- Would have to see it but if as described I'd pay 15K in a heartbeat. If it is the original interior and mint, with 32k actual miles, I'd pay upwards to 20- 21ish. Hard to replicate a car like this at these prices.0
-
Then it is not this car?0
-
well guys its not this car,,i already have the pics of this one,the 54 that im speaking about is a hornet, blackdocumented 32k,,and well kept,i not sure of selling her for a bit yet,,but i guess i may entertain an offer or two ,i will see. but they are only original once, anyone can restore one, well some can.0

Not sure about the car that you describe, but this one is priceless..

As Hudzilla says, forget what they're worth every peasant wants "the racing one" '51-'54 Hornet coupes. It's a question of demand. What's it worth to you? They produced very few '57 Hornets originally but not too many people are running out drooling over those even though it's rare....even though that car smiles at everyone who comes to take a look at it. LOL You don't see B-J out scowering the countrside to find that one lunatic old codger who kept one '57 in a barn wrapped in bubblewrap in a vacum-sealed container and only drove it on Sundays during a leap year. A classic car is a like a vacum cleaner with wheels when it comes to your wallet and money is the wrong reason to get into something. Get into it because you like the car.
Now if you're on the selling end on the other hand you must pout and sigh to potential buyers about how priceless it is and where will you ever find another one ?! Bestill my bleeding heart!
I get a little annoyed at car shows when people ask me "what is it worth? (usually asked by a non-car person) It's rude, like asking someone how much money they make. I sure hope Hudsoning doesn't become strictly a rich man's hobby. Perhaps I should invest on one of those underappreciated Hudson Jets.0 -
Some of the best deals I have seen have been in the back of the WTN. Just speculation but I think there are many older members who when ready to sell, are financially into their cars for relatively little and when they do sell are just happy to move on with a quick sale.
I don't mind people asking the value of my car if I think they are really interested. If it is a dealer, then I just ask them to tell me what they think it's worth and let them be uncomfortable.0 -

Boy, do I ever agree with that! Like asking a new bride what her ring is worth. Plus, and most importantly, they're missing the point...0 -
im amazed , i guess there shouldnt be a price guide printed, because there are some that are afraid that the value for what ever reason would rase on there cars, and the funny thing alot of people would rather have a 4dr than a two door, because there family can fit ,maybe to go to the events together. and as far as asking what a car is worth?Aaron D,i asked what this car is worth not yours. seams that we have alot of knowlage here and was curious what a hornet 4dr lover, not a jet lover would be willing to pay for this car, thats all0

Gearhead- I believe Aaron D. was just referring to those people asking an owner what their car was worth, he was not belittleing you. Personnally, I don't mind people asking me unless they happen to be obnoxious jerk. Many car enthusiast really want to know what a car is worth. How are they going to know if they can afford one if they don't ask?
For some people to lament increasing prices seems pretty silly to me. Strange that your never hear them complain about their houses or 401K plans increasing in value... Me, I'm very happy values are going up, thank you very much.0 -
I think Aaron meant when you go out in public with your car you will always get those guys who ask what its worth. I had a guy stop and ask me what my car was worth and I told him I wasn't selling it so I didn't care. He then told me what he thought it was worth and what he would pay me. Stupid bastard wouldn't take the hint and leave had to get in the car and drive off.0

...lol yes i understand,,ok missinterprited,thanks0

I have to say, I think the roof line of the Sedan's are cool......0
-
That roofline is exactly what got me on the 52 Pacemaker. It is a simple car (as the line of Hudsons go...) with simple features and specs compared to others like the Hornets and Wasps. But it was definitely seeing the profile of the vehicle that got me onto it when I located it. Like I told my grandfather, some vehicles of that Stepdown era look as if the are moving forward even when they are standing still.... the 4 door sedans have to look to me - I think it is the length of the back seat doors and windows that does it.
I'd say the bottom photo is what we in the business refer to as "priceless". To me the car is worth billions as long as I have good health and great family to share it with.
Happy holidays to all!0 -
Kevin,
I agree, that bottom pic is priceless. During the time I was doing the body work on my sedan I let (taught) my 11 y.o. grandson shoot the primer on the doors and quarter panels. The skills he learned may not last long, but he now has some "ownership" of our Hudson. The memories for me are priceless.

Yep - In the photo I posted my son is just five years old last year.... when he sits in the back seat he can't see a thing except the seats. He is so proud of that car.0
-
Below is a pic of my 20 month old daughter at her first Hudson meet in Laughlin last month. As we walked by the Hudsons, she would point at the car, then point at her "Doc Hudson" shirt and say "Vroom"0

I agree with you and Harry54 about the roofline of the sedans...swoopy. BTW, KKTREB, which one are you in the photo? LOL
The pictures of the little people are precious, and so is the fact that their parents include them in their hobby. I guess there still is good parenting going on today.0
