A Christmas Story

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,

not a creature was stirring not even a mouse.

The stockings were hung from the garage with care ,

in hopes that Doc Hudson soon would be there...

The Race drivers were nestled all snug in their beds,

while visions of checkered flags danced in their heads.

Marshal Teague in his kerchief and Tim Flock in his Race cap ,

had just settled down for a long tune up and nap.

When down in Daytona there arose such a clatter,

I new all the time that it was fan excitement and chatter.

Away to the pit crew they flew like a flash ,

Tore open the the hood and even the Dash,

When what to our wondering eyes should appear,

but a Hudson Hornet , that can center point steer...

More rapid than Oldsmobile's the courses they drove, and they grunted and groaned and called them by name, on Hornet on Wasp on Super on Essex on Pacemaker on Jet on Commodore on Terraplane...

To the Top of the Track to the Top of the Wall Dash Away Dash Away Dash away Dash Away all...

And I Heard Doc Hudson Say as he Drove out of Sight ,

Merry Christmas to all And to all a Hudsonly Night.

    Merry Christmas to you Paul....
  • Good job Harry.

funny you should comment on that Paul, I was out yesterday, and caught myself saying to a sales lady, happy holiday. I actually caught myself, and told her merry christmas, explaining that I am a product of "corporate brainwashing" that companies all over the country have made it unacceptable to say "merry christmas" and the acceptable phrases are "seasons greetings" "happy holidays"

Kind of sad. especially the brainwashing part.
  • Cheers Harry! Was Scrooge a Christian?
  • Very enjoyable Harry. I will read that to my grandson this weekend.

    Merry Christmas,

    Great story Harry -

MERRY CHRISTMAS one and all. And, yes, Small Wonder, we WILL keep 'Christ" in Christmas.

All except, maybe, my oldest daughter who wishes everybody "MERRY CHRIMMAS!!!" LOL ROF (her dogs don't understand "Christmas" but they do understand "CHRIMMAS", if you're wondering.

Seriously, everybody have a safe, and sane, Christmas - and the very best of the upcoming New Year.
